Where to look for Fossils at Isle of Sheppey?

(UK Fossils LIVE Event - Looking for Fossils) - 2003

Sheppey is an ideal location for family's to collect since the best way to find fossils is to get on our hands and knees and search between the shingle. The clay can become extremely sticky, many have lost a boot or two and have had to walk back without them, Fossils at sheppey like most locations are subject to beach conditions. Sometimes sand can cover up the clay or if too many people have searched the foreshore (like on a monday morning after a summer weekend), you will dramatically reduce your chance in finding any decent finds. However there is always something for everyone to find if you are new to Sheppey

(UK Fossils LIVE Event - Its Sticky Business) - 2003

The Crabs and Lobsters are often in light yellow coloured nodules, so look carefully for these, they are often found on the extreme foreshore when the tide goes back.DO NOT DIG IN THE CLIFF, you will not find anything. The sea acts as a giant sieve and does all the work for you. The whole coastline from Sheerness to Warden Point is all London clay, there is such a vast amount that its important to concentrate on one area otherwise you will probably come back with nothing.
