Past UK Fossil Live/Open to all Events at Isle of Sheppey
25th May 2003

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the third UK Fossils Event, from the Isle of Sheppey. The day turned out to be warm and sunny after a very wet start. Incredibly we had to put a stop to the numbers attending, but we actually had 44 of us there for the event. Our two expert of the day were David Rayner and Tony Mitchell, the co-authors of the Sheppey book along with Fred Clouter. All of found this to be a very informative and relaxing field trip .everybody who attended made this a special day both through finds and atmosphere. Perhaps though the find of the day was made by one of our own UK Fossils management members (Alister) with the most excellent sharks vertebrae pictured below. Other very good finds included,a range of shark's teeth, fish vertebrae, and fossil crab.

Many of you have been asking us to organise more events of this nature, and we thank you for the very nice emails received. For me it was good to meet some of you for the very first time.
